And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with loud voice, saying, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"
Mark 15:34
Forsaken...deserted, abandonded, desolate, isolated, empty. Have you ever had these feelings? Jesus was abandonded by God during this time, taking on all the vile sins and sicknesss of the world and 'a man with no sin was separated from God.' 2 Corinthians 5:21 - God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the rightousness of God. He became the sinners' substitute and died forsaken so that we will never be forsaken. The final cry, Luke 23:46 - "Father, into Your hands I commit my spirit," denotes that the suffering is over and the work of redemption is complete. The debt for our sin has been paid in full by the blood of Jesus and the plan of salvation was set in motion.
Read Psalm 22... called the Psalm of the Cross - inspired by the Holy Spirit and given to the psalmist, provides the reader a prediction of the suffering that Jesus Christ endured during the time of the crucifixtion.

Psalm 22... called the Psalm of the Cross
This account gives us some idea of the suffering Jesus went through for us. Because of His suffering we no longer have to walk in the darkness of sin and feel forsaken, because the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
